About the school

Hama's Dance Center was founded in 1991 by Takeshi Hamagaki — known as Hama — first in Glendale and later relocated to its current Studio City location on Moorpark Street. The center is recognised in LA Patch's local journalism as "one of the last bastions of Lyrical Jazz" in Los Angeles. Programming includes lyrical jazz, jazz, and hip hop classes for young dancers, alongside intermediate-level technique for established students. Hama and his faculty have built a 35-year teaching lineage.
